The City of Lake City announced today the promotion of Maj. Patrick Miles to the role of Chief of Police for the City of Lake City. The announcement was immediately followed by his swearing in as Chief. Chief Miles’ first order of business was to promote Lt. Dedrick Graham to the Major of the department and his second in command.
Maj. Dedrick Graham has served the Police Department for a total of about 14 years. His most recent position was as Lieutenant of Patrol for the past 2.5 years.
Chief Miles has been a part of the Lake City Police Department since 2006 and has held many positions including his most recent as the Major. While Miles was on administrative leave pending a South Carolina Law Enforcement Division investigation at the end of 2023, the city leaders have complete faith in his dedication, commitment, and integrity.
“We knew at the time there was no basis to the investigation,” said William A. Hall, city administrator. “But we followed policy and welcomed him back at the conclusion of SLED’s inquires and the 12th Circuit Court cleared Miles. We are looking forward to the future of this department under Chief Miles’ and Major Graham’s leadership.”
The decision to promote Miles as the new Police Chief was decided by the hiring committee when they recently reconvened.
“The unanimous decision was reached after careful consideration and discussion on how we wanted to proceed in hiring our Chief,” said Mayor Yamekia Robinson. “Chief Miles was one of our top candidates in our search. We stand with full support in his abilities to lead our police department as our new Chief of Police.”
