On the evening of Sunday, July 6, officers with the Lake City Police Department responded to reports of an altercation at Walmart. No injuries were reported and the LCPD believe there is no threat to the public.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the incident involved a Walmart employee and two other individuals. During the confrontation, at least one shot was fired outside the building at the employee.
The suspects fled the area prior to law enforcement's arrival. Investigators have since reviewed surveillance footage and identified multiple witnesses, who are being interviewed as part of the ongoing investigation.
“Fortunately, no injuries have been reported,” said Police Chief Patrick Miles. “Both suspects involved in the incident have been identified and one, a juvenile, has already been taken into custody.” Chief Miles added that the juvenile has been transported to the South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice in Columbia.
Anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to contact the Lake City Police Department, (843) 374-5411, or Crime Stoppers, 1-800-222-TIPS.
