12U All-Stars Division 2 State Champions

The Lake City 12U All Stars basketball team celebrates after winning the state championship on Sunday, March 5. The team defeated Clemson All Stars to win the title.

State Champions!

The Lake City 12U All-Stars basketball team won the state championship on Sunday, March 5, in Seneca.

The all-star team defeated Lake View and Seneca on Saturday and defeated Clemson’s all-star team twice on Sunday to win the state championship.

“I’m so proud of our children, coaches, and parents,” said recreation and tourism director Cynthia Mallette. “Everyone has been very supportive, and Lake City was well represented.”

The 8U all-star team played in the 8U Division 2 State Tournament this past weekend in Clemson. The team was defeated by Seneca & Central-Clemson on Saturday.

Programs

The Lake City Department of Recreation and Tourism offers the citizens of Lake City and the surrounding community an opportunity to participate in a system of organized athletic programs.   The Recreation Department offers yearly youth sports programs. Football and Cheerleading in the Fall. Tackle football ages 7-12 and cheerleading ages 6-14. Basketball is offered in the winter to boys & girls ages 8-17.  Baseball and Softball in the spring/summer. Boys ages 4-14 and girls ages 4-15.  The recreation department also sponsors three annual special events: The Fall Kids Carnival held on October 31, The Easter Egg Hunt in the spring and Cookies and Ice Cream with Santa Claus in December. These are three very exciting events held for children ages 12 & under and children ages 10 & under.
